There are other options to get down to Exuma that range from pricey to private to ultra-luxurious.
- You can take a scheduled airline such as Bahamasair or SkyBahamas down to Georgetown. You will then need a taxi to the marina and a half-day charter. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in airports and to spend over $500 per person, as incidentals such as lunch and drinks are typically not included.
- Take a charter into Staniel Cay and hire a boat and guide for a few hours. This is an OK option for larger groups, and allows you to spend less time in airports and more time exploring the Exumas and seeing the swimming pigs. Plane charter costs vary based on size and type, but expect to spend over $700 per person for the full day trip.
- Take a seaplane directly to Big Majors – now this is a way to travel! Typically they will pack a picnic lunch (at your expense) and bring your supplies. Prices start at several thousand dollars for 3 people and go up from there depending on your group size and options.
